Mandated by CMS through the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003
Now all DMEPOS facilities must be accredited by September 30th, 2009. This requires that every Home Medical Equipment company and Orthotic and Prosthetic Office be accredited in order to attain or retain their Medicare provider status. Initially new providers or existing providers, by September 30, 2009, require Facility Accreditation. Without Accreditation in place you will not be able to bill Medicare for services provided.
